Have you ever wondered the history behind a name? The Monterey comes from the Spanish words monte and rey, meaning “King’s mountain,” in honor of Gaspar de Zuniga y Acevedo, Conde de Monterrey, the Viceroy of New Spain. The initial origin of the name Madison is from the English language and it means’ ‘Maud’s son’. The name Hampton may come from the Anglo-Saxon words hamm meaning an enclosure in the bend of a river and ton meaning farmstead or settlement.
