Village Heights at The Ponds News Jun, 17 2013 Posted by : admin

Middle School Announced!

Upper Mission will be getting a middle school located here at The Ponds, and within easy walking distance from Village Heights! The school site will be just below Steele Rd on an extension of Frost Rd. The school will accommodate up to 600 students in grades 6-8 and is scheduled to be open in 3 to 5 years.

Neighbourhood Changes

The next phase of development is opening up – services have been put in for the new lots and 10 new lots have been released offering larger yards! We expect the remaining lots to be released over the summer. Drop by the show home at 1254 Snowberry Ave. for more information!

In the Area

Go exploring! There are 22 km of trails at The Ponds with 5 naturally occurring ponds including Jack Smith Lake.
H2O Adventure & Fitness Center is just down Gordon Road and has an Olympic pool, wave pool, river run, adult hot tub, family hot tub, steam room, and Fitness studio.

The Capital News Centre is next to the H2o Adventure & Fitness Center and features two ice rinks, two indoor artificial turf fields with an indoor walking track, and two meeting room spaces. Additionally, Capital News Centre contains a physiotherapy clinic, a fully equipped cardio and weight fitness centre, a regional library, a spacious lobby with concession, and a licensed restaurant overlooking the main arena.

Next to the H2O Adventure & Fitness Center are walking trails along Mission Creek as well as an off-leash dog park. The dog park has 2 sections: one for small dogs and one for the larger hounds to play.

Village Center

There has been a fair bit of activity around the Village Center area and it will continue: right now the landscaping is being started with interlocking paving, planting beds, and irrigation for the trees and shrubs that will frame the street. Barring unforeseen delays, the landscaping and site furniture will be complete by the end of June. During this construction period, please do not walk along the new section of Frost Road (where it’s blocked off) for safety reasons.
And, Frost Road is going to grow a little more! It will be extended to the new school site area by the end of September 2013.
